About CAN communication
Eco Battery uses CAN bus communication to connect the battery's BMS directly to the charger and vehicle components. This allows real-time monitoring, safer charging, and longer overall battery and charger lifespan compared to non-CAN lithium systems.
Installation
Tech Tool required. The Eco Battery Tech Tool Programming Adapter (A-4103) is included in this bundle and must be used to program the battery before the installation is complete. Skipping this step will prevent the battery from operating correctly.
This bundle is designed specifically for the Moke America LSV and includes all mounting hardware, wiring adapters, and accessories needed for a clean install. An aftermarket controller is also required the 70V lithium system is not compatible with the stock lead-acid controller.
Step 1 — Remove lead-acid batteries. The Moke America typically ships with 10 AGM lead-acid batteries. All must be removed before installing the lithium pack.
Step 2 — Mount the lithium battery. Use the included Moke-specific mounting kit (A-8134) to secure the battery in the factory location.
Step 3 — Connect the charger and charge port. Install the quick connect charge port adapter (A-4007) and connect the 70V CAN charger.
Step 4 — Mount and wire the SOC meter. Install the CAN LCD state-of-charge meter using the universal L-bracket mount (A-3001).
Step 5 — Program the battery with the Tech Tool. Connect the A-4103 programming adapter and complete battery configuration. This step is required to activate the battery.

Is this bundle compatible with my Moke?
Yes, this bundle is built specifically for all Moke America LSV models. The mounting kit, charge port, and wiring are Moke-specific and designed to fit without modification.
Why does the battery say 70V if Mokes are 72V?
70V is the nominal voltage the resting voltage of the fully charged pack. When fully charged, a LiFePO4 70V battery reaches approximately 72–73V, which is why it's compatible with 72V-rated Moke America vehicles and aftermarket controllers.
Is the Tech Tool included? Do I need it?
Yes, the Tech Tool Programming Adapter (A-4103, Moke-specific) is included in this bundle. It is required to complete the installation — the battery must be programmed before it will operate. If you prefer not to do it yourself, an authorized Eco Battery dealer can perform the programming for you.
How far will I get on a single charge?

Do I need a new controller?
Yes. The 70V lithium system requires an aftermarket controller. The stock lead-acid controller in a Moke America is not compatible with this battery. This bundle does not include a controller — contact us if you need help selecting the right one for your build.
Can I use my existing lead-acid charger?
No. Lead-acid chargers are not compatible with lithium batteries and can damage the battery or void the warranty. This bundle includes the correct 70V 15A CAN charger, which communicates directly with the battery's BMS for safe, optimized charging.
What does "CAN" mean and why does it matter?
CAN (Controller Area Network) is a communication protocol that allows the battery's BMS to talk directly to the charger and other vehicle components. This means the charger knows exactly what the battery needs at every stage of the charge cycle — resulting in safer charging, longer battery life, and more accurate state-of-charge readings on your LCD meter.

What is the wake-up button kit for?
Lithium batteries with CAN BMS systems enter a sleep/power-save mode when not in use to protect the cells during storage. The remote wake-up button (A-4220) lets you wake the battery before use without needing to plug in the charger first.
Is this a street-legal upgrade?
The Moke America is classified as a Neighborhood Electric Vehicle (NEV) / Low-Speed Vehicle (LSV) and is street-legal on roads posted at 35 MPH or under. This battery upgrade does not change the vehicle's legal classification, but the increased power and range make it well suited for street use in LSV-legal areas.
