These batteries are built for 48V golf cart systems. They are labeled 51V because a 16-cell LiFePO4 battery has a nominal voltage of 51.2V, which is the lithium equivalent of a 48V lead-acid or factory 48V system.
Club Car does not sell the factory battery management system separately, so a failed factory battery usually means replacing the entire battery. Is this a 48V or a 51V battery?
It is a 48V golf cart battery. LiFePO4 cells are 3.2V each, so a 16-cell battery has a nominal voltage of 51.2V, which is why it is labeled 51V. That is the standard lithium replacement for a 48V Club Car, including factory lithium Tempo and Onward models.
How do I know if I have an LG or a Vanguard factory battery?
LG factory batteries have a black stamped-steel case. Vanguard batteries have a silver cast case with the Vanguard logo on top. This kit includes adapters for both, so it works either way.
Does this kit fit a Club Car DS?
No. The Club Car DS was never offered with factory lithium, so there is no factory lithium battery to replace. DS owners should choose an Eco Battery conversion bundle made for the DS.
Does this kit fit a Club Car Carryall with factory lithium?
Eco Battery lists this kit for Club Car factory lithium golf carts (Tempo, Onward, and the Precedent family). If you have a factory lithium Carryall utility vehicle, contact us with your serial number before ordering so we can confirm the correct solution.
Why is the J-hook not included with the 105Ah Thru-Hole kit?
The Thru-Hole battery is secured with a Club Car Precedent-style battery hold-down rod, called a J-hook. The rod passes through the center of the battery and is tightened with the included top nut (A-8401, 7/16"-14 thread). Lead-acid Club Cars already have this rod, but factory lithium carts use a modified battery bay, so many no longer have it. The kit includes the top nut so you only buy a J-hook if your cart needs one. The 60Ah, 105Ah Skinny, and 160Ah kits do not use a J-hook and include their own mounting strap or mounting kit.
What is the difference between the 105Ah Thru-Hole and the 105Ah Skinny?
Both store 5.3 kWh. The Thru-Hole is a compact cube (13.14" x 12.24" x 10.15", 98 lb) secured with a J-hook through the center. The Skinny is long and narrow (22" x 9.75" x 10.43", 113 lb) and mounts with the included Club Car Precedent mounting kit.
Which size should I choose: 60Ah, 105Ah, or 160Ah?
The 60Ah (3.0 kWh) is the lowest-cost replacement and is close to the original LG factory battery (3.1 kWh), slightly below the Vanguard (3.6 kWh). The 105Ah (5.3 kWh) stores about 47% more energy than a Vanguard factory battery. The 160Ah (8.1 kWh) stores about 2.25 times as much and suits rear seats, lifted carts, hills, and long daily use.
How far will my cart go on a charge?
Range depends on terrain, passengers, tire size, speed, and accessories. Eco Battery estimates that a 105Ah battery covers about 54 holes of golf plus the drive to and from the course. The 160Ah stores about 50% more energy than the 105Ah, and the 60Ah about 43% less.
Why did my factory lithium battery stop working?
Common causes include internal battery management system faults, communication errors with the cart's Vehicle Control Module, and deep discharge after long storage. Club Car does not sell the factory BMS separately, so a failed factory battery usually means replacing the entire battery.
My cart is completely dead and will not charge. Will this kit fix it?
If the failure is the factory battery, this kit replaces the battery, charger, and charge port. The Eco Battery Gen3 battery wakes automatically when the charger is plugged in or when you press the included remote wake-up button.
Why does the kit include a new charger and charge port?
The Eco Battery charger communicates with the battery through CAN, so charging is controlled by the battery's own management system. Eco Battery requires its own charger. Third-party chargers and battery tenders void the warranty.
How long does charging take?
With the included 15A charger, from fully discharged: about 4 hours for the 60Ah, about 7 hours for the 105Ah, and about 10.5 hours for the 160Ah. Charging from 50% takes about half as long.
Do I need the Heated model?
If you charge your cart in freezing temperatures, yes. Standard batteries block charging when the internal temperature is below 32°F to protect the cells. Heated batteries warm themselves automatically below 32°F and then resume charging. Both models can be driven in the cold, but range is reduced in very cold weather.
Will my factory electronics still work?
The kit uses Eco Battery EB FLi (Factory Lithium Integration), which is designed to keep communication with the cart's factory electronics and safety systems. A 12V DC-DC converter is included for lights, USB ports, and other 12V accessories.
How do I check my battery's charge level?
The kit includes an Eco Battery CAN LCD state-of-charge meter. You can also use the free EB Power app (iOS and Android) to check voltage, current, temperature, and state of charge, and to install battery firmware updates.
Can I install it myself?
Yes, if you are comfortable with basic hand tools and 48V electrical work. The kit includes the charge port, mounting hardware, integration module, and harnesses. If you are not comfortable working on electrical systems, have a golf cart technician install it.
What warranty does this kit have?
Eco Battery Gen3 batteries carry a Limited Lifetime Warranty. The charger carries a 2-year warranty and accessories carry a 1-year warranty. Register the battery at ecobattery.com/register within 60 days of purchase with proof of purchase, or coverage defaults to 1 year. The warranty is non-transferable.
How should I store my cart during the off season?
Charge the battery above 50%, charge it at least once every six months, and store it where the temperature stays above -4°F. After storage, fully charge the battery before use.
Is shipping free?
Yes. Shipping is free on this kit. Because the battery exceeds the 70 lb parcel limit, it ships by LTL freight rather than standard parcel service.
Can I pressure wash the battery?
No. Clean the battery only with a damp rag and never use chemicals. Damage from pressure washing is not covered by the warranty.
