Which kit do I need? If your cart's solenoid and wiring are in good working condition, the Standard Kit covers the essentials. The Professional Kit is recommended for first-time lithium conversions or older carts with aging wiring — it includes the solenoid, cables, voltage reducer, and all mounting hardware so you're not sourcing parts separately.

FAQ
Will this battery fit my golf cart?
The Bolt Energy 160Ah is compatible with 48V Club Car, Yamaha, and E-Z-GO golf carts. Supported models include Club Car DS (48V), Precedent, Onward, Tempo, Transporter, Villager, and Carryall; Yamaha Drive (G29), Drive2, Drive2 QuieTech, and UMAX; and E-Z-GO TXT (48V), RXV, Express, Freedom RXV, and Valor.
If your cart isn't listed or you're unsure, contact us with your cart's year, make, and model before ordering.
How do I know if my cart is 48V?
The easiest way is to count your existing batteries and multiply by their individual voltage. Six 8V batteries = 48V. Eight 6V batteries = 48V. You can also check the nameplate on your cart's motor or look up your cart's model year — most Club Car, Yamaha, and E-Z-GO carts built after the mid-2000s are 48V.
Still not sure? Contact us and we'll help you confirm.
How far will the 160Ah take me on a single charge?
Up to 70 miles under normal conditions. Actual range depends on terrain, passenger and cargo weight, temperature, tire pressure, and driving style. Flat neighborhood or course use with two passengers will land toward the higher end. Hills, heavy loads, and cold temperatures reduce range.
How long does it take to charge?
A full charge from near-empty typically takes 4–6 hours with the included high-speed charger. Partial charges are completely safe — unlike lead-acid, LiFePO4 does not require a full cycle and is not damaged by topping off regularly.
What's the difference between the Standard Kit and Professional Kit?
The Standard Kit includes the battery, charger, SOC meter, Bluetooth receiver, mounting bracket, connectors, and tie straps. The Professional Kit adds everything needed for a complete installation: a 400A heavy-duty solenoid, 2× 40" 2AWG installation cables, 30-amp voltage reducer, AC hardwire port, DECO cover plate, lighted extension cord, and a lead battery removal strap — 14 items total.
If your cart's solenoid and wiring are in good shape, the Standard Kit is sufficient. For first-time lithium conversions or carts with older wiring, the Professional Kit is the cleaner choice.
What is the heated version and do I need it?
The heated version includes internal battery heating that keeps cells at an optimal operating temperature in cold weather. LiFePO4 batteries can lose capacity in temperatures below freezing and should not be charged below 34°F without a heating system. If you use your cart in winter or store it in an unheated space in a cold climate, the heated version is recommended. For year-round warm climates, the standard (non-heated) version is sufficient.
Do I need to bypass the OBC (On-Board Computer)?
It depends on your cart's age. Carts built before the mid-1990s used resistor-based speed control and have no OBC — no bypass needed. Carts from the mid-1990s through approximately 2014 have an OBC that is designed for lead-acid charging profiles and must be bypassed when switching to lithium. Newer carts with factory lithium systems or smart charger setups vary — if you're unsure, contact us with your cart's year and model.
The Professional Kit includes an owner's manual that covers the OBC bypass procedure. Bolt Energy also provides step-by-step installation videos at boltenergyusa.com.
Does this battery require any maintenance?
No. LiFePO4 batteries are completely maintenance-free. No watering, no equalization charges, no terminal cleaning. The sealed IP66-rated enclosure protects against dust and water.
Can I use my existing charger?
The kit includes a waterproof high-speed charger sized for the 160Ah battery — we recommend using it. Standard lead-acid chargers have different charge profiles and are not compatible with LiFePO4 chemistry. Using a non-compatible charger can damage the battery and void the warranty.
How difficult is the installation?
Most owners complete the install in 2–4 hours using basic hand tools. The Professional Kit includes an owner's manual with step-by-step instructions, and Bolt Energy provides installation videos at boltenergyusa.com. If you'd prefer to have a shop handle it, Bolt's dealer locator can help you find a local installer.
