The Bolt Energy 48V 168Ah Heated Lithium Battery Kit is a single-battery lithium conversion for 48V Club Car golf carts, including the Precedent, Onward, Tempo, DS 48V, Villager, and Transporter 4 and 6. It replaces a heavy lead-acid battery pack with one 51.2V 168Ah LiFePO4 battery storing 8.6kWh of energy and includes the charger, monitoring, and wiring accessories needed for the conversion.
This kit is built for Club Car owners who want more time on the cart between charges: large neighborhoods and golf communities, lifted or modified carts, and carts that regularly carry four or more passengers. At 168Ah, it is the high-capacity option in Bolt Energy's 48V Club Car lineup.
The built-in heating system lets the battery charge in cold weather. When temperatures drop below 34°F, the battery automatically warms itself to a safe charging temperature while the charger is plugged in, then charges normally. That makes it a practical choice for carts stored in unheated garages, barns, or outdoors.
A 250A continuous battery management system (BMS) with 520A peak output supports strong acceleration and hill climbing. The cells are automotive A-grade prismatic LiFePO4, housed in an IP66-rated, powder-coated steel case. Bluetooth and the included Smart SOC meter show the battery's state of charge at a glance. The battery is backed by Bolt Energy USA's 12-year warranty.
Choose the Standard Kit for a straightforward battery swap, or the Professional Kit, which adds a 30A voltage reducer for 12V accessories, a 400A solenoid, two 40" 2AWG premium installation cables, and a lead battery removal strap.
Product: Bolt Energy 48V (51.2V) 168Ah Heated Lithium Battery Kit for Club Car. Manufacturer: Bolt Energy USA. Chemistry: LiFePO4. Sold by Lithium Battery Supply.
Features
-
Built-in battery heating: When the cells are below charging temperature, the heater warms them while the charger is plugged in, then charging starts automatically at about 34°F. Your cart can recharge overnight in cold storage and be ready the next day.
-
Fully automatic operation: The heating system needs no switches, settings, or maintenance. It runs only while the charger is plugged in and shuts off automatically, no later than when the battery is fully charged, so energy is not spent on heating while the cart is parked unplugged or being driven.
-
250A continuous / 520A peak BMS: The BMS delivers 250A continuous and 520A peak for 30 seconds. This supports steady acceleration, hill climbing, and the higher loads that come with lifted carts, larger tires, and full passenger seats.
-
168Ah capacity, 8.6kWh of energy: High capacity in a single battery means more driving between charges compared to lower-capacity lithium options, which matters most for multi-passenger and modified carts.
-
Automotive A-grade LiFePO4 cells: Prismatic lithium iron phosphate cells offer a stable chemistry with a long service life. The BMS helps guard against overcharging, over-discharging, excessive current, and unsafe temperatures.
-
IP66-rated steel case: The all-steel enclosure is e-coated and powder coated for dust and water resistance, and it will not melt, crack, or deform under high heat.
-
Bluetooth app and Smart SOC meter: Check state of charge on the included SOC meter, or connect through the Bluetooth receiver to the Bolt Energy USA app to view overall and individual cell voltages, cell temperature, current amp draw, remaining charge and discharge time, and lifetime power cycles.
-
Firmware updates and remote support: The Bluetooth connection lets you install BMS firmware updates from the app and gives Bolt technicians remote access for troubleshooting.
-
Certified cells and battery: Cells are certified to UL1642 and IEC62619, and the battery is UN38.3 tested.
-
Waterproof high-speed charger with AC hardwire port: The kit includes a waterproof charger, an AC hardwire port with DECO cover plates, and a 15 ft 12AWG lighted extension cord for a clean charging setup.
-
Low self-discharge: The battery loses less than 3% of its charge per month, which helps during seasonal storage.
-
CAN diagnostic port: A CAN port is provided for battery testing and troubleshooting.

FAQ
Which Club Car models does this battery kit fit?
It fits 48V electric Club Car Precedent (2004 and newer), Onward and Tempo (2017 and newer), DS 48V (up to about 2010), Villager (about 2008 and newer), and Transporter 4 and 6 models. Years are approximate model production years. It does not fit 36V Club Car DS carts.
Which part number do I need for my Club Car?
For the Precedent, Onward, Tempo, DS 48V, or Villager: 33-320S (Standard Kit) or 33-320P (Professional Kit). For the Transporter 4 or Transporter 6: 33-321S (Standard Kit) or 33-321P (Professional Kit). Both versions contain the same battery and the same kit contents. The battery model is 33-51168LH.
What is the difference between the Bolt 168Ah and the older 160Ah battery?
The 168Ah is the newer version. It stores 8.6kWh of energy compared to 8.2kWh for the 160Ah, with the same 250A continuous BMS rating, and it fits the same battery space in the cart.
Should I choose the Standard or Professional Kit?
Choose the Professional Kit if your cart has 12V accessories such as lights, a horn, or a radio, or if you want an upgraded 400A solenoid and two 40" 2AWG installation cables. It also includes a 30A voltage reducer and a lead battery removal strap. The Standard Kit includes the battery, charger, SOC meter, Bluetooth receiver, and charging accessories.
Why would I need the 30A voltage reducer?
Many carts power 12V accessories by tapping into one or two of the lead-acid batteries. With a single 48V lithium battery, there is no separate 12V battery to tap, so a voltage reducer converts 48V down to 12V for lights and other accessories. The Professional Kit includes a 30A reducer.
How far will my Club Car go on one charge?
Range depends on your cart's setup, including lift kit, tire size, motor and controller, passenger and cargo weight, terrain, speed, and tire pressure. Bolt Energy rated its previous 48V 160Ah battery at up to 70+ miles depending on setup. The 168Ah stores 8.6kWh, more than the 160Ah's 8.2kWh, but Bolt has not published a separate range figure for it yet.
Is this battery a good choice for a lifted or 6-passenger Club Car?
Yes. Lifted carts, larger tires, and full passenger loads draw more energy per mile. The 168Ah capacity and 250A continuous BMS (520A peak for 30 seconds) are suited to these higher-demand setups, giving more driving between charges than lower-capacity options.
How does the battery heating system work?
When the cells are too cold to charge, the BMS holds off charging while the internal heater warms the cells. Once they reach about 34°F, charging begins automatically. The heater runs only while the charger is plugged in and shuts off automatically, no later than when the battery is fully charged. No switches or settings are needed.
Can I store and charge my cart in a cold garage or outdoors?
Yes. The heated design lets the battery charge in unheated garages, barns, and outdoors, so you do not need to move the cart inside to recharge. In cold weather, the battery warms itself overnight and can be ready to use the next day.
Does the heater drain the battery while the cart is parked?
No. The heating system activates only while the charger is plugged in. It does not run while the cart is unplugged or being driven. Heated and standard Bolt batteries share the same charge and discharge specifications.
How do I monitor the battery?
The kit includes a Smart SOC (state of charge) meter for a quick view of remaining charge, plus a Bluetooth receiver that connects the battery to the Bolt Energy USA app. The app shows overall and individual cell voltages, cell temperature, current amp draw, remaining charge and discharge time, and lifetime power cycles, and supports firmware updates and remote technical support.
How do I charge the cart after installation?
The kit includes a waterproof high-speed charger, an AC hardwire port with DECO cover plates, and a 15 ft 12AWG lighted extension cord. Once installed, you charge by plugging the extension cord into the cart's AC port and a standard outlet.
Can I use my old lead-acid charger?
No. Use the charger included with the kit, which is matched to this lithium battery. Lead-acid chargers use a different charging profile.
Can I install this kit myself?
Many owners with basic mechanical and electrical experience install the kit themselves using the included owner's manual. If you are not comfortable working with high-current wiring, we recommend a qualified golf cart technician.
How much does the battery weigh?
The battery weighs 143 lb. A single battery replaces the full lead-acid pack, which typically consists of six 8V batteries in a 48V Club Car.
Is the battery waterproof?
The enclosure is designed to the IP66 standard, which means it is dust-tight and protected against strong water jets. The steel case is e-coated and powder coated for corrosion resistance. It is not intended for submersion.
What warranty does this battery have?
The battery is covered by Bolt Energy USA's 12-year warranty. Heated batteries are covered under the same warranty as standard Bolt batteries.
