Need Help?

Our experts are here to help you find the lithium battery for your needs.

Your cart is getting slower, the range is dropping, and you are tired of topping off water and cleaning corrosion off the terminals. The Lithium Rhino 48V 105Ah CUBE replaces the entire lead-acid battery bank in a 48-volt golf cart with one sealed lithium pack, and it comes with every part needed to complete the swap in a single afternoon.

The CUBE is the compact version of Rhino's 105Ah pack. At 14.1 inches long it is roughly four inches shorter than the standard 105Ah, which is what lets it drop into carts where a full-size lithium pack will not physically fit. The clearest example is the Club Car DS IQ from 2004 to 2008, where the controller panel sits in the middle of the battery tray. The CUBE mounts on either side of that panel without relocating it.

You get the same 5,376 watt-hours of usable energy either way. A single pack replaces six 8-volt or four 12-volt lead-acid batteries and removes a substantial amount of weight from the rear of the cart, which the suspension, tires, and brakes all benefit from. There is no watering, no equalizing, and no acid to clean up.

This kit suits neighborhood and street-legal carts, golf course use, LSV conversions, campgrounds, and property and ranch carts. It fits most 48-volt carts from Club Car, EZGO, Yamaha, ICON, Bintelli, Evolution, MOKE, and others. It is not a fit for carts that came from the factory with a lithium battery. Check the Fits Your Cart tab before ordering, or contact us and we will confirm your year, make, and model.

Key Features

  • Compact CUBE footprint: 14.1″ x 13.3″ x 10.8″. Fits tight battery compartments, including the Club Car DS IQ 2004–2008 with the center controller panel, where full-size 105Ah packs do not fit.
  • Complete conversion kit: charger, 12V reducer, gauge, brackets, cables, charge port adapter, and hardware are all included. No second trip to the parts store partway through the install.
  • 25A smart charger: recharges the pack in roughly four hours from empty. Plugs into a standard 110V outlet.
  • 40A 12V reducer: powers lights, radio, USB ports, and other 12-volt accessories from the main pack, so you do not need a separate accessory battery.
  • LCD dash gauge with power button: shows state of charge at a glance and lets you switch the battery off from the dash without opening the seat.
  • Bluetooth app monitoring: the free Lithium Rhino app for iOS and Android shows state of charge, voltage, temperature, and individual cell data. No subscription.
  • Integrated battery management system: monitors every cell and protects against over-voltage, under-voltage, over-current, short circuit, and over-temperature. Cell balancing runs automatically.
  • CAN and RS485 communication ports: on-board ports for integration with compatible controllers and accessories.
  • Grade-A LiFePO4 prismatic cells: lithium iron phosphate chemistry rated for 6,000+ charge cycles.
  • IP65 metal enclosure: sealed against dust and low-pressure water spray, with two recessed carry handles.
  • Consistent power as it discharges: lithium holds voltage through the discharge curve, so the cart does not noticeably slow down as the charge drops the way it does on lead-acid.
  • 8-year warranty: six years full replacement, transferable to the next owner if the pack is registered. Read the Warranty Tab for full details

Fits Your Cart

The CUBE is a 48-volt system replacement. It fits carts that currently run six 8-volt, eight 6-volt, or four 12-volt lead-acid batteries. Confirmed fitment by manufacturer:

Make Models
Club Car DS 48V (pre-2004), DS IQ 48V (2004–2008), Precedent, Tempo, Village 48V, Onward (lead-acid models only)
EZGO Freedom TXT 48V, Express, MPT, RXV (lead-acid models only)
Yamaha G19, G22, G29/YDRE, YDRE2
ICON / Advanced EV 48V lead-acid models
Other brands Bintelli, EPIC, Evolution, Tomberlin, Denago, MadJax, Kandi, Vivid, MOKE, Navitas, Cushman, Columbia Par Car, MELEX, BEAST, STAR EV (lead-acid models only)

Best fit for tight battery compartments. If your cart has a center-mounted controller panel, a shallow tray, or limited clearance under the seat, the CUBE is the pack to choose. It is the only Rhino 105Ah that fits the Club Car DS IQ 2004–2008 without modifying the controller panel.

Please read before ordering, this kit does not fit:

  • Carts that came from the factory with a lithium battery. This includes EZGO RXV ELiTE, Club Car Onward and Tempo lithium models, STAR EV lithium models, Yamaha Drive2 PowerTech Li, and ICON models sold with factory lithium. These carts use a controller that communicates with the original battery, and this kit is not a drop-in replacement for them. Lead-acid versions of the same models are fine.
  • 36-volt carts. A 36V cart needs the 36V Lithium Rhino kit, not this one.
  • 72-volt carts. A 72V cart needs the 76V Lithium Rhino kit.

Not sure which category your cart falls into? Call or message us with the year, make, model, and serial number before you order. We will confirm fitment, and if this is the wrong kit we will tell you which one is right.

Installation

Most owners complete this install in a single afternoon with basic hand tools. The battery itself is a straightforward swap. The wiring steps below are where people get stuck, so read them before you start.

The general sequence: disconnect and remove the lead-acid batteries, clean the tray, mount the CUBE with the included brackets, connect the main positive and negative cables, wire the 12V reducer for your accessories, mount the LCD gauge, install the charge port adapter plate, and switch the battery on.

Club Car DS, Precedent, Tempo and Village: these carts use an on-board computer (OBC) that manages lead-acid charging. The OBC has to be bypassed as part of the conversion, because its charging logic is not compatible with lithium. The correct bypass method varies by year and drive system, so identify your cart before cutting anything. On many Precedents the plastic dividers inside the molded battery tub also need to come out to create a flat surface for the pack. Most installers handle that in under an hour.

EZGO: your cart will not drive after the old charge port is removed until the interlock wire from that port is addressed. This is normal and is not a fault with the battery. If the cart is dead after the swap, this is the first thing to check.

Yamaha: the small interlock wire in the original charger receptacle is left unplugged once the receptacle is removed. Always move the Tow/Run switch to Tow before connecting or disconnecting the battery.

12V accessories: run them from the included reducer, not directly from the pack. The reducer's load output can feed a fuse block if you have several accessories, and the blue trigger wire needs to be connected for the reducer to switch on with the key.

Before you call for help: the battery has to be switched on, with the indicator lit, before it will accept a charge. A pack that appears not to charge is very often just switched off.

Lithium Rhino publishes model-specific installation videos and includes a free 30-minute video call with an install technician on every kit. Our team is also available if you get stuck partway through.

Frequently Asked Questions

It fits most 48-volt carts running lead-acid batteries, including Club Car DS, Precedent and Tempo, EZGO TXT, Express and MPT, Yamaha G19 through YDRE2, ICON, Bintelli, Evolution, MOKE, and others. See the Fits Your Cart tab for the full list. It does not fit carts that came with lithium from the factory, or 36V and 72V carts. If you are unsure, send us your year, make, model, and serial number and we will confirm before you order.

Yes. This is the main reason the CUBE exists. At 14.1 inches long it mounts on either side of the center controller panel without relocating that panel. The standard full-size Rhino 105Ah does not fit this cart.

No. Carts sold with factory lithium, such as the EZGO RXV ELiTE, Club Car Onward lithium, STAR EV lithium, and Yamaha Drive2 PowerTech Li, use a controller that communicates directly with the original battery. This kit is not a drop-in replacement for those systems. Lead-acid versions of the same models are fine. Contact us and we will help you find the correct replacement.

Yes. Club Car DS, Precedent, Tempo, and Village carts use an on-board computer that manages lead-acid charging, and its logic is not compatible with lithium. The bypass is a standard part of any Club Car lithium conversion. The correct method varies by year and drive system, so identify your cart first. Rhino provides model-specific videos, and our team can walk you through it.

Almost always the charge port interlock. EZGO carts use a wire from the original charge port that prevents the cart from driving while it is plugged in. When the old port comes out, that wire has to be handled or the cart stays disabled. This is normal and is not a fault with the battery. Check this before anything else.

No. Lead-acid chargers use a charging profile that is not appropriate for lithium, and many older cart chargers depend on the on-board computer that you are bypassing. Use the 25-amp lithium smart charger included in this kit.

Make sure the battery is switched on and the indicator is lit. The pack has to be powered on before it will accept a charge, and a battery that appears dead on charge is very often simply switched off. You can also turn the pack on and off from the included dash gauge.

Roughly four hours from empty on the included 25-amp charger. Partial charges take proportionally less time. Lithium does not need to be fully discharged before recharging, so you can top it off after each use without shortening its life.

Lithium Rhino reports 35+ miles on 105Ah and larger kits. Real-world range depends heavily on your setup and how you drive. Larger tires, a lift kit, an upgraded motor or controller, hills, passengers, cargo, and accessory load all reduce it. Range figures assume a stock cart with factory-size wheels and tires, factory controller, and factory motor.

Most owners finish in a single afternoon, typically two to four hours with basic hand tools. Club Car installs take longer than EZGO or Yamaha because of the on-board computer bypass and, on some Precedents, removing the dividers in the battery tub.

The included brackets make it easy to secure the pack across a range of carts, and they hold the battery up off the tray in case of standing water. If your cart's tray already holds the pack securely, you can mount it directly using the holes at the base of the battery footing.

Usually yes. The Precedent's molded plastic tub has internal dividers sized for six 8-volt batteries. A single lithium pack needs a flat seating surface, so those dividers typically come out. Most installers handle it in under an hour with basic tools.

It steps the 48-volt pack down to 12 volts to run your lights, radio, USB ports, and other accessories. On a lead-acid cart those accessories usually tapped 12 volts off a pair of the individual batteries, which is not possible with a single lithium pack. The 40-amp reducer is included, and its load output can feed a fuse block if you have several accessories.

Yes, in parallel, up to four units. Do not connect them in series. Series-connecting lithium packs means multiple battery management systems working against each other, which leads to cells drifting out of balance and reduced usable capacity over time.

The free Lithium Rhino app for iOS and Android connects over Bluetooth and shows state of charge, pack voltage, temperature, individual cell data, fault alerts, and cycle history. There is no subscription. The included dash gauge shows state of charge without reaching for your phone.

Switch the battery off and store it charged, not empty. Lithium holds its charge far better than lead-acid over long idle periods. Storing the pack fully discharged, or leaving it uncharged for more than a year, is excluded from warranty coverage.

Yes, provided the battery was registered by the original owner. If the cart is sold with the Lithium Rhino battery in it, the remaining coverage transfers to the new owner. Register on install day using the QR code on top of the pack.

The manufacturer warranty excludes commercial and rental fleet use. If you are outfitting a fleet, contact us before ordering and we will point you toward a battery with coverage that matches how the carts will actually be used.

The complete kit ships as one hazmat-certified wooden crate by freight carrier. You will need a way to get the crate off the truck and somewhere flat to open it. Inspect the crate before signing for it and note any visible damage on the delivery receipt.

Message or call us with your year, make, model, and serial number before ordering and we will confirm fitment first. That is the easiest way to avoid a return on a freight-shipped item. If something still is not right, get in touch and we will work it out with you.
