Need Help?

Our experts are here to help you find the lithium battery for your needs.

The Allied Lithium 48V 105Ah Commercial Battery Kit is a lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) replacement for the full lead-acid battery pack in a 48-volt electric golf cart. It replaces a 4x12V, 6x8V, or 8x6V lead-acid configuration with a single unit that connects to your cart's existing wiring and OEM charge port. Installation typically takes under 30 minutes.

The kit includes the 105Ah battery unit, a 15-amp waterproof charger with your cart's OEM plug, a state-of-charge meter, mounting brackets, and 4-gauge cables. The battery weighs 108 lbs. A comparable lead-acid pack for a 48V cart weighs between 300 and 500 lbs. Charge time with the included charger is 2 to 4 hours. Lead-acid systems on the same cart typically require 8 to 10 hours to charge.

The battery includes a Bluetooth-enabled battery management system (BMS) that connects to the free Allied app on iOS and Android. The app displays state of charge as a percentage, individual cell voltages, pack voltage, charge and discharge amperage, and cycle count. LiFePO4 chemistry delivers consistent voltage output from full charge down to approximately 20 percent, rather than the gradual voltage drop that occurs as lead-acid batteries discharge.

This kit is designed for stock to lightly modified 48V carts with 2 to 4 passengers and controllers rated up to 450 amps. It is compatible with EZGO TXT, EZGO RXV, Club Car DS, Club Car Precedent, Club Car Tempo, Club Car Onward, Yamaha Drive, Yamaha Drive2, ICON EV, AdvancedEV, and Bad Boy Buggy. See the Compatibility tab for year ranges, model-specific notes, and a full list of supported controller brands.

The battery is rated for 3,500 or more full charge cycles and carries an 8-year manufacturer warranty issued by Allied Battery, headquartered in St. Louis, Missouri. Warranty registration at alliedlithium.com is required within 30 days of purchase. The warranty is prorated from the purchase date and is non-transferable. Full warranty terms are available. Read Warranty Tab.

Before ordering, two items to confirm:

1. 12V accessories: Headlights, horn, USB ports, and stereos require a 48V-to-12V step-down converter (sold separately). These accessories cannot be connected directly to the 48V battery terminals.

2. Club Car 1993–2013: These models may require an OBC (on-board computer) bypass before the included charger will function. Contact us with your cart year and model to confirm before ordering.

Contact us before placing your order if you need confirmation on fitment for a specific cart model, year, controller, or accessory setup.

Range note: The 30 to 45 mile estimate reflects a stock 2-passenger cart on flat terrain at moderate speed with no accessories running. Expect lower range with hills, multiple passengers, lifted carts with larger tires, accessories running, or higher speeds. Plan around the lower end of the range for typical real-world use. Owners with heavier loads or hilly terrain may want to consider the 168Ah version.
12V accessories note: If your cart has headlights, a horn, USB ports, a stereo, or any other 12-volt accessory, you will need a 48V-to-12V step-down converter (30A rated, sold separately). Connecting 12V accessories directly to the 48V battery terminals will damage the accessories. Order the converter at the same time as the battery to avoid delays on installation day.

FAQs

Does this one battery replace all of my existing lead-acid batteries?

Yes. This single unit replaces your entire lead-acid pack, whether you currently have 4x12V, 6x8V, or 8x6V batteries. You remove all of your old batteries, place this unit in the tray, connect the included cables to the positive and negative terminals, secure the mounting bracket, and the installation is complete. You reuse your existing cart wiring and charge port. No new harness or wiring modifications are required for most carts.

Specify your cart make and model when ordering so we can include the correct charger plug for your cart.

Will this fit in my cart without any modifications?

The battery measures 18.5 inches wide by 10.5 inches long by 9.5 inches tall. It uses your existing battery tray and the included mounting brackets, no new tray is needed.

For most listed carts it is a direct drop-in. The Club Car Precedent requires a minor tray adjustment: trim the plastic separator fins and shift the center wiring to one side. This takes most people 20 to 30 minutes. All other listed models are direct drop-in. See the Compatibility tab for model-specific details.

How many miles will I actually get on a charge?

Allied rates this battery at 30 to 45 miles per charge under optimal conditions: stock 2-passenger cart, flat terrain, no accessories. For typical everyday use, plan around 20 to 30 miles per charge.

One 18-hole round of golf covers approximately 8 to 10 miles and typically uses 30 to 40 percent of the charge, meaning most owners get 2 to 3 rounds per charge. Range is reduced by hills, additional passengers, lifted carts, accessories running, and higher speeds. If these conditions apply to you, consider the 168Ah version.

Do I need a new charger, or can I use my existing one?

A compatible 15-amp charger is included in this kit. Using any other charger including your previous lead-acid charger, will void the 8-year manufacturer warranty. The included charger connects to your existing OEM charge port with no modifications.

Club Car models from 1993 to 2013 have an OBC that can block third-party chargers from starting a charge cycle. An OBC bypass may be needed, contact us before ordering to confirm.

My lights and horn stopped working after install. What is the problem?

This is the most common installation issue. The 48V battery terminals output 48 volts. Connecting 12-volt accessories, headlights, horn, USB chargers, radios, directly to those terminals will damage or destroy the accessories immediately.

All 12-volt accessories must run through a 48V-to-12V step-down converter (30A, sold separately). Order it at the same time as the battery so everything is ready on installation day.

Does this work with my upgraded Navitas or high-performance controller?

Yes. The BMS is rated for 350 amps peak discharge and 600 amps instantaneous peak designed for controllers up to 450 amps. Many competing lithium batteries cap at 200 amps peak, which causes the BMS to shut down under load from high-performance controllers. No controller reprogramming is needed. Regenerative braking is fully compatible, no resistor coil required.

What does the 8-year warranty actually cover and what are the conditions?

The 8-year warranty covers defects in materials and workmanship. Key conditions to know before purchasing:

  • Prorated from day one: Warranty value decreases from your purchase date, not from when an issue appears.
  • Register within 30 days: Must be registered at alliedlithium.com to activate coverage.
  • Allied charger required: Using any other charger voids the warranty.
  • Non-transferable: Applies to original purchaser only.
  • Return shipping at buyer's expense: If a claim is approved, you ship the battery to Allied for testing.
  • Cutoff switch required: For drop-in batteries purchased after January 2024, a manual cutoff switch must be installed.

Full terms available. Read Warranty Tab.

How do I store this battery over winter or for several months?

Charge the battery to 100%, unplug the charger, switch your cart to tow mode, then press the blue power button on the side of the battery unit to activate sleep mode. In sleep mode the battery draws only 2 to 4% of charge per month and can be stored safely for up to 12 months without maintenance charging.

Can I charge it partially, or does it need a full charge every time?

Partial charges are fine with LiFePO4 chemistry. Plug in after 9 holes, after a short drive, or whenever convenient, there is no negative effect on long-term capacity. For the very first use after receiving the battery, charge it to 100% before operating the cart.

How does the Allied app work and what does it show?

Download the free Allied Battery app from the App Store or Google Play. Press the blue power button on the battery, open the app, and connect to the device starting with "AB-" in the Bluetooth list. The app shows: state of charge percentage, individual cell voltages, total pack voltage, charge and discharge amperage, and cycle count. Allied's support team can also pull diagnostic data remotely through the app. If your SOC meter and the app show different readings, the app is more accurate, it reads directly from the BMS.

What is the difference between the 65Ah, 105Ah, and 168Ah versions?
  • 65Ah: Stock 2-passenger carts, flat terrain, no accessories. Estimated range: 18 to 25 miles.
  • 105Ah (this product): Stock to lightly modified 2 to 4 passenger carts, moderate hills, light accessories, controllers up to 450A. Estimated range: 20 to 35 miles in typical conditions.
  • 168Ah: Lifted carts, 4 to 6 passengers, heavy accessories, high-performance motors, hilly terrain, or longer range needs. Estimated range: 40 to 55 miles.

If you are between sizes, the 168Ah is the more practical long-term choice. You cannot add capacity after the two-year parallel addition window closes.

My cart shut off mid-ride even though the gauge showed charge remaining. Why?

LiFePO4 cells hold near-full voltage until the BMS reaches its minimum threshold, then cut off sharply to protect the cells. The most common cause of this issue is a miscalibrated SOC meter, if the capacity setting does not match 105Ah, the displayed percentage will be inaccurate. Check your SOC meter settings and confirm the capacity is set to 105Ah. The Allied app gives a more reliable reading in the meantime.

Is this battery safe? What is Fire Suppression Technology?

Lithium iron phosphate is the most thermally stable of the common lithium chemistries and does not produce thermal runaway under normal use. Allied adds a secondary passive layer called Fire Suppression Technology (FST): if extreme external heat or fire reaches the battery case, an internal chemical discharge triggers automatically to remove oxygen inside the case and limit fire spread. No user action is required, it activates on its own if the conditions are met.

Do I need to reprogram my cart's controller after installing this battery?

No. Controller reprogramming is not required when switching from lead-acid to this battery on stock or standard aftermarket setups. This applies to OEM controllers and most aftermarket brands including Navitas, Teekon, Curtis, and Alltrax. If you have a specialized or custom controller, contact Allied support at (800) 625-5110 to confirm before ordering.

Can I add a second battery later if I want more range?

Yes, within a specific time window. You can add a second Allied 48V 105Ah in parallel within two years of your original installation. After that point, mixing batteries with different age and charge histories can create cell imbalances. If you think you may want more range, ordering the 168Ah version from the start is simpler and more reliable than adding a second battery later.

My Club Car is from 2006. Will the charger work without any changes?

Club Car models from 1993 to 2013 include an OBC (on-board computer) that communicates with the factory charger. When you switch to the Allied charger, the OBC on these models can block the charge cycle from starting. An OBC bypass is typically required a golf cart technician can perform this. Contact us with your year and model before ordering and we can advise on what is needed for your cart.
