The EB Power AC Kit / 450A + 4kW for the Club Car DS is a complete drivetrain upgrade that swaps a tired DC motor and controller for a modern AC system in one bundle. You get a 4kW AC induction motor, a 450A controller, a new wiring harness, all phase and battery cables, a solenoid, fuse, mounting plates, and the hardware to install everything. There is no hunting for adapters across multiple suppliers and no reusing aged wiring from your original cart.
This kit is built for standard wheelbase Club Car DS carts, 2 to 4 passenger, lifted or non-lifted. The 10-spline motor is sized to match the DS rear end, so it drops in without clearance issues. The system pairs natively with Eco Battery lithium through CAN communication, with Gen3 batteries unlocking the deepest integration through the proprietary BMS. Lead-acid setups are also supported.
What you feel after the upgrade: stronger acceleration off the line, higher top speed than a stock DC setup, sustained power on hills and under passenger load, smoother throttle response, regenerative braking that returns energy to the battery, and three preset drive modes you can tune through the EB Power app on iOS or Android. The result is a cart that drives like a modern factory AC platform, with a 2-year warranty on the controller and motor backed by Eco Battery's U.S.-based support team.
Compatibility
This kit fits:
- Club Car DS, standard wheelbase
- 2-passenger and 4-passenger DS carts
- Non-lifted and lifted DS carts
- Carts running MCOR throttle systems
- Eco Battery lithium (Gen2 and Gen3) and lead-acid battery setups
This kit does not fit:
- Club Car Precedent, Tempo, or Onward (separate kit available)
- 6-passenger or extended wheelbase DS carts (longer harness required)
- EZGO, Yamaha, or any non-Club Car platform
Throttle compatibility notes: The EB Power platform is designed to work with MCOR throttle systems. Resistor-style V-Glide carts may experience throttle behavior differences due to the mechanical design of the resistor system. If you have a resistor V-Glide cart, contact us before ordering so we can confirm fitment for your specific setup.
If you are unsure which Club Car platform you have, text us your cart's year and a photo of the motor compartment. We will confirm before you order.

Performance Benefits
Here is what changes about how the cart drives after this upgrade.
Stronger Acceleration
The 4kW AC induction motor produces 46 ft-lbs of torque and delivers it consistently from a standstill. Pulling away from a stop feels noticeably quicker than a worn DC setup, even with passengers on board.
Higher Top Speed
A stock 48V Club Car DS tops out around 12 to 14 MPH from the factory. The 4kW AC motor has a 9,500 RPM ceiling and 8kW of peak output for 60 minutes, which gives the cart real headroom to run faster than a stock DC setup. Your actual top speed depends on your tire size, gear ratio, battery voltage, and cart weight. The EB Power app lets you set the top speed limit you want within the system's capability. If you want a realistic estimate for your specific cart, text us your setup and we will help.
Sustained Hill Performance
AC motors hold their power output as speed and load change. Climbing hills with passengers no longer means watching your speed drop off, and the motor stays cooler doing it.
Smoother Throttle Response
AC drive is more linear than the contactor-based behavior of older DC systems. The cart accelerates smoothly without the surge-and-settle feel of an aging DC controller.
Regenerative Braking
When you lift off the throttle or slow the cart, the motor acts as a generator and returns energy to the battery. You gain a small range benefit on every trip and reduce wear on the mechanical brakes.
98% Controller Efficiency
The 450A controller converts battery power to motor output with very low loss. More of the energy in your battery reaches the wheels, which translates into longer real-world range on the same charge.
Lower Maintenance
AC induction motors have no brushes to wear out. Service intervals are longer than comparable DC motors, and there are fewer parts that fail with age.
Cooler Operation
Higher efficiency and the flat heatsink controller design keep heat down under continuous use. The motor carries an IP67 rating and the controller IP66, so they handle the conditions a cart actually sees outdoors.
Drive Modes & EB Power App
The EB Power controller communicates over CAN and Wi-Fi. The EB Power app, available on the Apple App Store and Google Play, gives you direct access to the system from your phone.
What you can do from the app:
- Switch between three preset drive modes
- Adjust acceleration profile and top speed within the system limits
- Monitor battery state of charge through CAN integration with Eco Battery lithium
- View system status and diagnostic information
How owners use the three drive modes:
- A milder mode for new drivers, kids, or guests
- A balanced mode for everyday driving
- A performance mode for when the owner wants the full character of the cart
For households where multiple people drive the cart, this means one cart can match every driver without compromise. Changes save in the app and persist between rides.
Installation
This kit is designed to be installed by an experienced cart technician or a capable DIY owner. Every connector in the harness is labeled, the controller plate arrives pre-assembled, and all hardware is included.
What to expect:
- A typical install runs about a day for an experienced installer
- First-time DIY installers should plan for more time
- Standard hand tools, a socket set, and a torque wrench cover most of the work
- A jack and stands or a lift make the motor swap much easier
Key torque specifications from the data sheet:
- Controller power connections: 8 ft-lbs (10 Nm)
- Motor mounting hardware: 15 ft-lbs (20 Nm)
- Solenoid power terminals: 8 ft-lbs (10 Nm)
What you do not need to do:
- No reusing old wiring or harnesses
- No fabricating a controller mount
- No hunting for adapters, cables, or hardware across multiple orders
Eco Battery publishes installation guides for the EB Power line. If you run into questions mid-install, our team and Eco Battery's U.S.-based support team are both available to help.
Battery Integration
This kit works with both lithium and lead-acid battery setups. How you pair it changes what the system can do.
With Eco Battery Gen3 lithium: The EB Power controller communicates directly with the Eco Battery BMS over CAN. You get accurate state of charge readings, coordinated fault handling, and the deepest integration the platform supports. This is the configuration Eco Battery designed the system around.
With Eco Battery Gen2 lithium: Fully compatible. You get the AC performance benefits and reliable operation, with Gen3 representing the most refined version of the BMS integration.
With lead-acid batteries: The kit operates normally and delivers the same motor and controller performance. Battery cables included in the kit cover this configuration. You will not get the CAN-based battery monitoring that lithium provides.
If you are planning to upgrade the battery alongside the drivetrain, we can build a bundle with the right Eco Battery lithium pack for your DS. Reach out for combined pricing.
