The Dakota Lithium 36V 8A charger is built for 36V LiFePO4 batteries. It outputs exactly 43.2 volts, the correct charge voltage for lithium iron phosphate chemistry. Using a lead-acid charger on a lithium battery only fills it to 70–80% capacity and causes long-term cell damage.

Plug it in after a day on the water or on the course. The red light confirms charging. When the green light comes on, the battery is full and the charger has stopped automatically. Safe to leave overnight.

Smart BMS Wake-Up. If your battery's protection system shut down from deep discharge, this charger sends a recovery signal to restart it. Disconnect the trolling motor or any load first, then connect the charger.

The aluminum housing dissipates heat during charging, it will feel warm during use. Set it on a hard, non-flammable surface with airflow. Do not place it on carpet or inside a closed compartment.

Includes Anderson SB50 plug and ring terminals. Compatible with Connect-Ease trolling motor wiring kits. Input accepts 100–240V, so it works on home outlets, dock shore power, and RV hookups.

Not compatible with lead-acid, AGM, or SLA batteries. Do not charge below 32°F (0°C).

FAQs

How long will it take to charge my battery?
Divide your battery's amp-hour (Ah) rating by 8. A 60Ah battery takes under 8 hours. A 100Ah battery takes under 12 hours. If the battery is only partially discharged, charge time will be shorter.
Can I use my old lead-acid charger on a lithium battery?
No. Lead-acid chargers output the wrong voltage and only fill a LiFePO4 battery to 70–80% capacity. Repeated use causes permanent cell damage. A LiFePO4-specific charger is required.
My battery will not charge. What do I do?
The most common cause is the battery's BMS shutting down after deep discharge. Disconnect the trolling motor or any load first, then connect this charger. It will send a wake-up signal to restart the BMS. Once the BMS restarts, normal charging begins and the red light comes on.
The charger feels warm during use. Is that normal?
Yes. The aluminum case is designed to release heat during charging. Place it on a hard, non-flammable surface with space around it. Do not cover it or set it on carpet while charging.
Is it safe to leave plugged in overnight?
Yes. The charger stops automatically when the battery is full. The green light confirms charging is complete.
Does this work with Connect-Ease wiring kits?
Yes. The included Anderson SB50 plug connects directly to Connect-Ease trolling motor wiring kits without additional adapters.
Does this work with other brands of LiFePO4 batteries?
Yes. This charger works with any 36V LiFePO4 battery that requires a 43.2V charge voltage, including Ionic Blue, Battle Born, Epoch, Relion, and others. It is not compatible with NMC chemistry batteries or batteries that require a proprietary charger for heated charging functions. Always confirm your battery's specified charge voltage before use.
Can I charge in cold weather?
Do not charge below 32°F (0°C). Charging a frozen battery causes permanent cell damage. The battery can discharge in cold temperatures, but charging must happen above freezing.
Is there a faster charger available?
Yes. Dakota Lithium offers an 18A charger that cuts charge time by approximately 55%, a 60Ah battery charges in about 3 hours instead of 8. The 8A model is designed for overnight charging and is within the recommended range for long-term battery lifespan.
