The Dakota Lithium 36V 60Ah Deep Cycle LiFePO4 Battery is a single-unit lithium iron phosphate battery designed for 36V trolling motors, electric golf carts, and small electric vehicles. It replaces the traditional setup of three 12V lead-acid batteries wired in series, reducing weight at the bow and simplifying your wiring to a single connection.
Built with Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) chemistry, this battery delivers consistent power output throughout the entire discharge cycle. Unlike lead-acid batteries, which lose voltage as they drain, the LiFePO4 flat voltage curve means your trolling motor runs at the same performance level from the first hour to the last. You get all 60 amp-hours not a fading percentage of them.
At 44 lbs, this battery is significantly lighter than a comparable lead-acid battery bank. It fits a standard Group 31 battery tray, making installation a direct swap in most bass boats, bay boats, skiffs, and center consoles. No modifications required.
Rated for up to 2,000 charge cycles at 80% capacity retention, and backed by an 11-year manufacturer defect warranty, this battery is designed to outlast multiple replacement cycles of traditional lead-acid batteries. Every unit ships with an active Battery Management System (BMS) that handles cell balancing, over-charge protection, over-discharge cutoff, short circuit protection, and high-temperature protection automatically.
Compatible with Minn Kota, Garmin Force, Motorguide, and Rhodan 36V trolling motors. Charger sold separately requires a LiFePO4-compatible 36V charger.
Features
Single-Battery Simplicity
One 36V unit replaces three 12V batteries wired in series. Simplified wiring, less weight at the bow, and easier installation in your existing Group 31 battery tray.
Flat Voltage Curve
LiFePO4 chemistry maintains steady voltage output throughout the full discharge cycle. Your trolling motor delivers consistent thrust at hour one and hour eight no gradual power loss as the battery drains.
Lightweight Design
Weighing 44 lbs, this battery is substantially lighter than a comparable lead-acid battery bank. Reducing bow weight improves boat handling, fuel efficiency, and ease of transport.
Long Cycle Life
Rated for up to 2,000 charge cycles at 80% capacity in recommended conditions. The typical sealed lead-acid battery delivers approximately 500 cycles. Over a 10-year period, this battery requires fewer replacements, reducing the total cost of ownership.
Cold Weather Performance
Operates down to -20°F during discharge. Suitable for year-round use in cold climates. Do not charge below 32°F.
Active Battery Management System (BMS)
Built-in BMS monitors and protects against over-charge, over-discharge, short circuit, and high-temperature conditions. Handles automatic cell balancing to maintain consistent performance across all cells.
Safe Chemistry
Lithium Iron Phosphate does not contain cobalt, lead, acid, or heavy metals. It does not off-gas and can be mounted in any orientation. Less susceptible to thermal runaway compared to other lithium chemistries.
Parallel Expansion
Up to 10 units can be wired in parallel to increase capacity and extend runtime. Not designed for series wiring, 36V systems only.
11-Year Manufacturer Defect Warranty

FAQ
Will this battery fit my existing battery tray?
This battery uses a Group 31 case, which shares the same physical footprint as a standard 12V 100Ah lead-acid battery. Most trolling motor battery trays in bass boats, bay boats, and skiffs accept it directly without modification.
Does this battery come with a charger?
No. The charger is sold separately. A LiFePO4-compatible 36V charger is required. Dakota Lithium recommends a 36V 8A charger (approximately 8-hour full charge) or a 36V 20A charger for a faster charge time. Do not use a standard lead-acid charger, it will damage the battery and void the warranty.
Can I replace my three 12V batteries with this single unit?
Yes. This is the primary use case. This single 36V battery replaces three 12V batteries that were previously wired in series. It simplifies your wiring to one connection and reduces total battery weight significantly.
Can I connect two of these batteries for more runtime?
Yes. Up to 10 units can be wired in parallel to increase total capacity and extend runtime. Do not wire this battery in series. It is a 36V system only and is not designed for series configurations.
Does this battery work in cold weather?
The battery discharges down to -20°F and is used by anglers in cold-weather climates for trolling motors and ice fishing equipment. Do not charge the battery below 32°F, the BMS will prevent charging at or below freezing to protect the cells.
How long will this battery last?
Rated for up to 2,000 charge cycles at 80% capacity retention under recommended conditions. At one full charge cycle per fishing outing, typical use will yield many years of service before capacity noticeably declines. Backed by an 11-year manufacturer defect warranty.
Is this battery safe to use on a boat?
Lithium Iron Phosphate chemistry is non-toxic, contains no lead or acid, does not off-gas, and is non-corrosive. It can be mounted in any orientation. The active BMS provides protection against overcharging, short circuits, and overheating. All batteries are UN38.3 certified and meet US and international regulations for marine transport.
What is the difference between this and the older Dakota Lithium 36V 63Ah battery?
The 36V 60Ah is the updated version of the 36V 63Ah. It is 25% smaller in volume, 20% lighter, offers 100% more max discharge power, and has a 50% longer lifespan rating. All orders for the older 63Ah model are fulfilled with this 60Ah version.
How does the warranty work?
The warranty covers manufacturer defects for 11 years from the original date of purchase. You can contact Dakota Lithium directly with proof of purchase for warranty service, or contact us and we will help you with the process. Read the Warranty Tab
