Bolt Energy 51.2V 105Ah Lithium Battery Kit | Club Car 48V Conversion
SKU 33-303S
If your Club Car is running on lead-acid batteries, you already know the routine watering them, cleaning the terminals, watching the cart slow down halfway through the day, and replacing the whole pack every few years. The Bolt Energy 51.2V 105Ah lithium battery ends all of that.
You may see this battery listed as either a 48V or a 51.2V battery both refer to the same unit. 51.2V is the nominal cell voltage of the LiFePO4 pack. Your Club Car's 48V drivetrain is fully compatible. If you have been searching for a 48V lithium golf cart battery or a 51.2V lithium golf cart battery for your Club Car, this is the correct battery.
This is a single lithium battery that replaces your entire lead-acid pack. One unit, one installation, and your Club Car drives stronger, goes farther, and charges faster than it ever did on lead-acid without any of the maintenance.
The "Mini" or square form factor was specifically designed to fit Club Car battery compartments. It mounts using brackets directly to the floor of the cart no tray modification, no cutting, no guesswork. Bolt Energy built it to be the most adaptable 48V lithium battery on the market, and Club Car owners are one of the biggest reasons why.
Compatible Club Car models (48V only):
- Club Car DS (48V) 2000 and newer
- Club Car Precedent 2004 and newer
- Club Car Onward 2016 and newer
- Club Car Tempo 2018 and newer
- Club Car Transporter - All years
- Club Car Villager - All years
- Club Car Carryall - All years
⚠️ Not compatible with Club Car DS 36V models. If your cart runs on six 6-volt batteries, it is a 36V system and requires a different battery. Not sure which voltage you have? See the FAQ section below we explain exactly how to tell.
The kit comes in two configurations: Standard and Professional. The Professional Kit includes a heavy-duty solenoid, voltage reducer, premium cables, and everything else needed for a complete install. For most Club Car owners, the Professional Kit is the better choice it has every component the job requires, so there are no extra trips to the parts store.
A Heated option is also available for both kits. If you store or use your cart in temperatures below freezing, the Heated model is recommended it warms the battery cells before charging to protect performance in cold weather.
Backed by Bolt Energy's 12-year manufacturer warranty. Ships free to the 48 contiguous United States.
Features
-
Single-battery replacement for your entire lead-acid pack
One Bolt Energy Mini replaces all of your 48V lead-acid batteries whether you currently have six 8V batteries or four 12V batteries. Simpler wiring, less weight, more space. -
LiFePO4 chemistry the safest lithium available
Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4) is chemically stable and does not overheat or catch fire the way other lithium types can. It is the same chemistry used in industrial and marine applications. You get the benefits of lithium without the risks associated with cheaper lithium-ion cells. -
Consistent power from full charge to nearly empty
Lead-acid batteries lose voltage as they drain, which is why your cart feels sluggish toward the end of the day. LiFePO4 holds a flat voltage curve through most of the discharge cycle your cart drives the same on mile 40 as it did on mile 1. -
Up to 50 miles per charge
Actual range depends on terrain, passenger load, speed, and any accessories running on the cart. Most Club Car owners using this battery in normal conditions report 30 to 50 miles per charge. -
Bluetooth monitoring
The included Bluetooth receiver pairs with a compatible app so you can check your battery's state of charge, voltage, and health from your phone without opening the seat or guessing how much charge is left. -
CAN port for diagnostics
A built-in CAN port allows dealers and technicians to run diagnostics and communicate directly with the battery's management system when needed. -
250A continuous BMS built for golf cart demands
The Battery Management System (BMS) protects the battery from overcharge, over-discharge, extreme temperatures, and short circuits automatically. At 250A continuous, it handles the demands of a stock or lightly modified Club Car without throttling power output. -
IP66 weather protection
The powder-coated steel housing is rated IP66, meaning it is protected against heavy water spray from any direction. Your battery is safe in rain, wash-downs, and wet terrain. -
No maintenance required
No water to add. No terminals to clean. No equalization charges. Charge it with the included lithium charger and ride. That is the entire maintenance routine. -
Significantly lighter than lead-acid
A typical 48V lead-acid pack weighs 350 to 400 lbs. The Bolt Energy Mini weighs 100.8 lbs. That weight reduction improves acceleration, reduces wear on your cart's frame and tires, and makes the cart easier to maneuver. -
Heated option available
The standard battery should not be charged below 34°F (1°C). If your cart is stored or used in cold climates, the Heated model includes an integrated heating system that warms the cells before charging protecting battery life through winter months. -
12-year manufacturer warranty
Bolt Energy backs this battery with a 12-year limited warranty from the date of purchase. That is one of the longest warranty periods in the golf cart lithium battery market. -
Designed for ~3,000 charge cycles
Most golf cart owners charge their battery once a day or less. At 3,000 cycles, this battery is built to last well over 10 years of regular use.

FAQ
The easiest way is to count your batteries and note the voltage printed on each one. Six 6-volt batteries add up to 36V. Six 8-volt batteries add up to 48V. Four 12-volt batteries also add up to 48V. This battery is for 48V carts only. If you are unsure, contact us with your cart's year and model and we will help you confirm before you order.
Yes and this is one of the most important steps people skip. Your original lead-acid solenoid was not designed to handle the higher amperage that a lithium battery can deliver. Skipping this step often causes solenoid failure within a few months of the upgrade. The Professional Kit includes a 400A heavy-duty solenoid for exactly this reason. If you order the Standard Kit, purchase a 400A solenoid separately before installation.
Only if your cart has 12V accessories lights, horn, USB ports, a stereo, or any other electrically powered add-on. With lead-acid batteries, accessories were powered by tapping a single battery in the pack. With one lithium battery, you need a 48V-to-12V voltage reducer to power those accessories safely. The Professional Kit includes a 30A reducer. If your cart has zero accessories and runs completely stock, you may not need one but most Club Car owners do.
Many Club Car models manufactured from the mid-1990s through the 2000s include an Onboard Computer (OBC) that manages the factory charging process. Lithium batteries and lithium chargers do not use the factory OBC.
During a lithium conversion, the OBC is typically bypassed, disabled, or removed from the charging circuit. This is a standard and expected part of the installation it does not prevent you from upgrading, and it does not damage anything. Bolt Energy kits include instructions or wiring steps to bypass the OBC so the lithium charger can operate properly.
A few things to know based on your cart's age:
- 1992 and older Club Car DS these are resistor-era carts and typically do not have an OBC. This step may not apply to you.
- ~1995 through 2014 Club Car DS and Precedent these models commonly have a factory OBC and will require the bypass during installation.
- If your OBC has already been bypassed by a previous owner you are already one step ahead. Just confirm before starting the install.
Not sure whether your cart has an OBC or whether it has already been bypassed? Contact us with your year and model before ordering it is a quick question that saves time during installation.
No. Lead-acid chargers use a different charging algorithm that is not compatible with lithium batteries. Using one can damage the battery and will void the warranty. The kit includes a lithium-compatible waterproof high-speed charger use only that charger.
Both kits include the battery, Bluetooth receiver, SOC meter, charger, mounting hardware, and terminal connectors. The Professional Kit adds the components needed for a complete installation: a 400A heavy-duty solenoid, 30A voltage reducer, 2AWG premium installation cables, AC hardwire port with DECO cover plate, a 15ft lighted extension cord, and a lead battery removal strap. For most Club Car owners, the Professional Kit is the better choice because it includes everything the job requires.
The standard battery should not be charged below 34°F (1°C). If you live in a climate where temperatures drop below freezing and you store or use your cart outdoors during winter, the Heated model is recommended. The heating system warms the battery cells before charging to protect performance and battery life in cold weather. If your cart is stored indoors or you live in a warm climate, the standard (non-heated) option is fine.
Most Club Car owners using this battery under normal conditions report 30 to 50 miles per charge. Actual range depends on terrain, driving speed, passenger weight and load, tire pressure, and any accessories drawing power from the battery. Hilly terrain, heavy loads, and higher speeds will reduce range. Flat terrain at moderate speeds will maximize it.
Slightly but not dramatically on a stock cart. The weight reduction (roughly 250 to 300 lbs less than a full lead-acid pack) typically results in 2 to 4 MPH faster top speed and noticeably quicker acceleration. You will also notice the cart maintains consistent power all the way through the charge cycle instead of slowing down as the batteries drain. Significant speed increases beyond that require motor and controller upgrades.
A 48V lithium battery is not a direct replacement for a 36V Club Car. While many older Club Car motors are capable of handling 48V, compatibility depends on the cart's full electrical system not just the motor. A proper 48V conversion typically also requires a 48V-compatible electronic controller, a 48V solenoid, and a 48V charger.
If your cart has a resistor-based speed control system (common on pre-mid-1990s Club Car DS models), we especially recommend against a simple 48V battery swap resistor carts produce a high constant amp draw that can conflict with a lithium BMS and cause repeated shutoffs.
For a 36V Club Car, we recommend a 36V lithium conversion kit instead. Contact us with your year and model and we will help you find the right option.
Bolt Energy's LiFePO4 batteries are designed for approximately 3,000 charge cycles. For most golf cart owners who charge once a day, that translates to well over 10 years of regular use. Proper charging habits using only the included lithium charger and avoiding storage at very low charge help maximize battery life.
Yes. The included Bluetooth receiver pairs with a compatible app so you can check state of charge, voltage, and battery health directly from your phone without opening the seat or the battery compartment.
Yes. The included charger is lithium-specific and shuts off automatically when the battery reaches full charge. It is safe to leave connected overnight. Avoid charging in extreme heat above 140°F (60°C).
Bolt Energy backs this battery with a 12-year limited warranty, but there are a few important details to understand:
- You must register within 30 days of purchase. Registration is done by serial number at boltenergyusa.com/battery-warranty-registration/. If you do not register within 30 days, the warranty is limited to 2 years from the purchase date. This is the single most important step after installation.
- Years 1–6: Full replacement coverage for manufacturing defects.
- Years 7–12: Prorated coverage — 45% of current IMAP in years 7–8, 60% in years 9–10, and 70% in years 11–12.
- The warranty is transferable. If you sell your cart, the remaining warranty transfers to the new owner but they must register the transfer within 15 days of the ownership change or coverage is voided.
- Charger warranty: 2 years from shipment date.
- Accessories (solenoid, voltage reducer, cables): 1 year from shipment date.
The warranty does not cover damage from improper installation, incorrect charger use, dirty terminals, storage at low state of charge, or normal performance drop over time. Full warranty terms are available in the Warranty tab. Contact us if you need help with registration or a warranty claim we will assist you through the process.
Store the battery in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight. Before storing, charge it to approximately 50 to 60% rather than leaving it fully charged or fully drained. If storing for more than two months, top up the charge every few months to keep the battery healthy. Avoid storing in temperatures below freezing unless you have the Heated model.
The Mini (square) and Thin models have identical electrical performance same voltage, same capacity, same range, same BMS. The only difference is the physical shape. The Mini's square form factor fits Club Car battery compartments. The Thin is designed for golf carts with long, narrow battery trays. For any Club Car model listed on this page, the Mini is the correct choice.
