Bolt Energy 48V 105Ah Lithium Battery Kit Golf Cart ICON 2017-Up
SKU 33-109
The Bolt Energy USA 48V (51.2V) 105Ah Square lithium battery kit with ICON gauge cluster is a complete lead-acid-to-lithium conversion for 2017 and newer ICON golf carts. If you own an ICON running lead-acid batteries, this Bolt Energy kit replaces your heavy lead-acid pack with a single 51.2V 105Ah LiFePO4 battery and includes a plug-and-play ICON gauge cluster with CAN adapter, so your dash keeps the clean, factory-style look you already know while reading accurate lithium data.
Lead-acid packs are heavy, lose power as they drain, and need regular upkeep. This upgrade gives you steady power from a full charge down to empty, far less weight over the axles, and faster charging. You can also choose the battery that fits your climate: a standard battery for mild and warm conditions, or a heated battery that warms itself so it can charge in an unheated garage, barn, or outdoors in the cold. Everything needed for a conversion is in the box, including a waterproof high-speed charger, mounting hardware, and the gauge cluster with CAN adapter.
This kit fits the ICON I20, I40, I60, I40F, and I60F. You can choose the Standard Kit for a typical conversion, or the Professional Kit, which adds a 400A solenoid and 30A reducer for carts that need the extra switching hardware. Whether your ICON is a personal-use cart, a community runabout, or a work cart, this is a straightforward way to move from lead-acid to lithium without losing your factory dash experience.
Why Upgrade From Lead-Acid
A lead-acid ICON cart works, but it comes with trade-offs you feel every day. Moving to lithium changes how the cart drives, charges, and holds up over time.
- Consistent power to the end of the charge: Lead-acid batteries slow down as they drain. This LiFePO4 battery holds steady voltage, so the cart pulls hills and carries passengers the same at 20% as it does at 100%.
- Much lighter: The complete lithium battery weighs 100.8 lbs. A comparable lead-acid pack often weighs several hundred pounds, so you take a large amount of weight off the cart and its suspension.
- Faster, simpler charging: The included waterproof high-speed charger recharges the pack without the long, slow cycles lead-acid needs. There is no watering, no acid, and no cleaning corroded terminals.
- Longer usable life: LiFePO4 chemistry is built for many more charge cycles than lead-acid, so you replace batteries far less often.
- Cold-weather charging option: Choose the heated battery and it warms itself when charging starts in the cold, then charges normally once it reaches about 34°F, so it can live and charge in an unheated space.
- Built-in protection: A smart battery management system (BMS) guards against over-charge, over-discharge, short circuit, and temperature extremes.
ICON Gauge Cluster
Most lithium conversions leave you with a factory dash that no longer reads correctly. Because lithium holds a flat voltage curve, the original lead-acid gauge can show the wrong charge level or stop reporting battery status altogether. This kit solves that.
Included in every Bolt Energy ICON kit is a digital gauge cluster (item 33-039) with a CAN adapter, engineered to drop into your existing ICON dash. It keeps the factory-style layout you are used to and displays accurate, real-time information from your new lithium battery:
- State of charge: Accurate battery percentage so you always know how much range you have left.
- Speedometer and odometer: Live speed and total mileage.
- Voltage and amperage: Real-time electrical readout for the battery and system.
- Efficiency: Live data to help you manage battery use and stretch run time.
- System information: Clear status on a modern LCD interface for easy reading.
The cluster is plug-and-play. It connects to the cart's factory components through the included CAN adapter, and no tech tool or special programming is required for installation. The result is a dash that looks like the original but now reports true lithium data.
Features & Benefits
- Plug-and-play ICON gauge cluster: Keeps your factory-style dash and shows accurate state of charge, speed, mileage, voltage, amperage, and efficiency. No tech tool needed.
- Standard or heated LiFePO4 battery: Pick the battery for your climate. The standard battery charges in mild and warm conditions; the optional heated battery self-warms so it can charge in an unheated garage, barn, or outdoors and be ready the next day.
- Bluetooth monitoring: A Bluetooth receiver lets you check battery status from your phone.
- Smart BMS protection: Manages charging and discharging and protects against over-charge, over-discharge, short circuit, and temperature extremes.
- CAN communication: The CAN adapter lets the battery and gauge cluster talk to the cart's factory systems, with a CAN port for battery testing.
- Waterproof high-speed charger: Included in the kit for fast, low-maintenance recharging.
- IP66-rated design: The powder-coated steel case is built to resist dust and water for cart use.
- Complete conversion kit: Battery, charger, mounting hardware, wiring, cluster, and CAN adapter arrive together for a single-purchase upgrade.

Standard vs. Heated Battery
This kit comes with your choice of a standard battery or a heated battery. Both deliver the same power, capacity, and range. The only difference is how they handle charging in cold temperatures, so the right choice comes down to your climate and where you charge.
How the standard battery works
Like all lithium batteries, the standard battery is designed to charge at temperatures at or above about 34°F (0°C). If the battery is colder than that, the built-in battery management system pauses charging to protect the cells until the battery warms up on its own or is moved somewhere warmer. Driving is not affected the same way, since the battery can discharge in much colder conditions. The standard battery is a good fit if you live in a mild or warm climate, or if you charge the cart in a garage or space that stays above freezing.
How the heated battery works
The heated battery adds a built-in heating system so cold weather does not stop you from charging:
- The battery warms itself as it starts to charge, and once it reaches around 34°F it begins charging normally.
- The heating system only runs while the battery is below the charging temperature and shuts off automatically once the proper temperature is reached.
- Heating only activates while the charger is plugged in.
- The battery can charge in unheated spaces such as garages, barns, and outdoors.
- It can warm itself overnight and be ready to use the next day.
Choose the heated battery if you park or charge your cart in cold conditions through the winter and want to charge without moving the battery to a warm space. Charge and discharge specifications are the same for both the standard and heated versions; the heated battery simply adds the ability to warm itself for cold-weather charging.
Installation
This kit is built as a drop-in conversion. The battery, mounting brackets, wiring, charger, gauge cluster, and CAN adapter are included, and the gauge cluster is plug-and-play with no tech tool or programming required.
A typical installation involves:
- Removing the existing lead-acid batteries (the Professional Kit includes a lead battery removal strap to help).
- Mounting the lithium battery using the included brackets and hardware.
- Connecting the battery with the included ring terminals and cabling.
- Installing the gauge cluster and CAN adapter into the ICON dash.
- Setting up the AC hardwire port and charger connection.
Many owners with mechanical experience complete this themselves. If you are not comfortable working with cart wiring, a local golf cart shop can install it. If your cart requires the extra switching hardware, choose the Professional Kit, which adds the 400A solenoid and 30A reducer.

Frequently Asked Questions
This kit fits ICON i20, i40, i40F, i60, and i60F carts from model year 2017 and newer. It is designed for owners upgrading from a lead-acid battery pack to lithium. If your ICON came from the factory with a lithium battery, contact us before ordering so we can confirm the correct kit.
No. The ICON gauge cluster in this kit is plug-and-play. It connects through the included CAN adapter and does not require a tech tool or programming to install.
Yes. The included gauge cluster keeps a factory-style dash and displays accurate state of charge, speed, odometer mileage, voltage, amperage, and efficiency from your new lithium battery. This is the main reason the cluster is part of the kit: a standard lithium swap can leave the original gauge reading incorrectly, and this cluster corrects that.
Both kits include the same 51.2V 105Ah heated battery, the ICON gauge cluster, the CAN adapter, the charger, and the mounting and wiring hardware for a standard conversion. The Professional Kit adds a 400A solenoid, a 30A reducer, two 40" 2 AWG installation cables, and a lead battery removal strap. Choose the Professional Kit if your cart needs that extra switching hardware.
The gauge cluster is your primary dash display and shows state of charge on its own. The Smart SOC meter is also packed in the kit as an optional part. You can install it as an extra readout or keep it as a spare.
It depends which battery you choose. The standard battery charges at temperatures at or above about 34°F; below that, the battery management system pauses charging to protect the cells until it warms up. The heated battery adds a built-in heating system that warms the battery when charging starts in the cold and lets it charge in unheated garages, barns, or outdoors. The heating only runs while the charger is plugged in and shuts off automatically once the battery is warm enough. Both versions can discharge (drive) in much colder conditions.
At a steady 25A draw, the battery delivers about 252 minutes of run time. Real-world range depends on cart weight, terrain, speed, tire size, accessories, and driving style, so your results will vary with how and where you drive.
Yes. A waterproof high-speed charger is included in both the Standard and Professional Kits, along with a 15 ft 12 AWG lighted extension cord and an AC hardwire port with cover plates.
Yes. The battery includes a Bluetooth receiver, so you can check battery status wirelessly in addition to the gauge cluster on the dash.
Yes. A smart battery management system (BMS) manages charging and discharging and protects against over-charge, over-discharge, short circuit, and temperature extremes. The battery also carries an IP66-rated, powder-coated steel enclosure built for cart use.
The complete lithium battery weighs 100.8 lbs. A comparable lead-acid pack usually weighs several hundred pounds, so a conversion removes a large amount of weight from the cart, which can improve handling and reduce strain on the suspension.
This kit is designed as a drop-in conversion with the battery, mounting hardware, wiring, charger, cluster, and CAN adapter included, and the cluster requires no tech tool. Owners with mechanical experience often install it themselves. If you are not comfortable working with cart wiring, a local golf cart shop can complete the installation.
Bolt Energy rates this LiFePO4 battery for roughly 3,000 to 5,000 charge cycles before meaningful capacity loss, which for most owners means many years of regular use. It is backed by a 12-year transferable limited warranty from Bolt Energy USA. For full details read our Warranty Tab.
